This album presents the legendary singer, Amir Khan, whose name is synonymous with Indore gharana. Endowed with inner vision and imagination he could take his music soaring to scaling heights. He believed in complete elaboration of a raga. In doing so, however, he never indulged in any gimmickry or acrobatic showmanship. His music thus, was rooted in a reflective grasp of the melodic mode. This album features the baithak or house concert recordings of the artiste. The maestro sings his own compositions in the first raga, Basant Mukhari, a rare raga from Carnatic lineage. The second raga presented is a very melodious night melody called Nand, in which the slow composition is self-composed, whereas the fast composition is traditional. |
