The mellow voice of Sanjeev Abhyankar has enchanted audiences since his childhood and has helped the younger generation develop love and appreciation for Indian classical tradition. Trained under Smt Shobha Abhyankar, Shri Pimpalkhare and then Pandit Jasraj, his development of a raga casts a magical spell, drawing the listeners into a meditative mood. He has started his album with a serene early morning melody, Bhairav. The next raga chosen by the artiste is an ancient form of raga Basant called Haveli Basant, which has been derived from Haveli Sangeet. The artiste's gharana, Mewati specialises in this otherwise rarely sung raga. The album concludes with a beautiful bhajan based on raga Mishra Des. |
