Hailing from the family of musical geniuses, such as violin maestros T N Krishnan and N Rajam, Kala Ramnath got trained under her father and also her aunt, N Rajam. She is now studying music under Pandit Jasraj of Mewati gharana, which gave her violin playing an additional vocal dimension. The artistes technique is a synthesis of immaculate bowing and fingering, coupled with a remarkable command over sur and laya. A melancholy ragini, Miyan ki Todi, of the late morning is the main rendition in this album. This is followed by a mellifluous early evening raga, Poorvi. It finally concludes with an overwhelming night raga Chhayyanat. |
