This volume features the great master in a divine form rendering raga Charukeshi in all its glory. The raga is the twenty-sixth melakarta of the Carnatic music system. Shiv Kumar Sharma presents the north Indian interpretation of the raga. The raga begins with alap, jod and jhala, a step-by-step unfolding of its nuances and shades. In the second stage, the jod, the pace increases to madhyalaya. After the jhala, the maestro moves on to the rendition of gat and finally the fast taanas woven into the rhythmic splendour of the raga. |
