HO JAMALO
This album features Sufi qawwali by the peerless Abida Parveen. In this album, Abida begins her recital with the sprightly Sindhi folk song Ho Jamalo. Then follows a moving rendition of Rang. This number not only celebrates the Hindu festival of Holi but also plays on the metaphor of colouring the soul in the spirit of the mentor. The album moves to a Hindi offering 'Kirpa Karo Maharaj.' Other popular numbers include Nazi Ni Kyo, Sang Har Shaqsand Aree Logo. The albums moves through a free wheeling, spontaneous choice of ragas and pulsating rhythms that are the hall mark of the qawwali tradition.
