A JOURNEY TOGETHER
In keeping with the tradition of sitar and sarod duets by Ali Akbar Khan and Ravi Shankar, two artistes of the new generation, Partho Sarathy and Shubhendra Rao, who also studied under the two maestros at the same time, come together in this album to create magic through their music. The album begins with raga Patdeep, a late afternoon raga conveying a mood of tenderness, serenity and dignity. This is followed by a rendition of raga Charukesi, a raga from the south Indian style of music adopted and popularised in the north by sitar legend Ravi Shankar.
