IN SEARCH OF PEACE
Born into a family of musicians and a disciple of Pt Ravi Shankar, Gaurav Majumdar renders ragas like Madhuwanti and Charukeshi in this album. Raga Madhuwanti is a beautiful raga of the afternoon or early evening, which always has a feeling of pathos. Gaurav Mazumdar unfolds the raga through the elaborate alap, jod, jhala. After this he plays a compostion in ada-chautala, a rhythmic cycle of 14 beats. Raga Charukeshi is an ever pleasing romantic evening raga. After a brief introduction to the raga called Aochar, Gaurav plays two compositions in slow and fast tempo, the teentala, rhythmic cycles of 16 beats.
